The poet John Keats (b. 1795) said, "Painting should lift the spirit."
While in the process of painting, I am immersed in my thoughts, loosing all sense of time as if lifted to another level of being. The smell of the air, the warmth of the sun, the sounds that I hear are all etched in my mind. The work I create is an expression of that moment in time.
Remembering Robert Henri (b. 1865), artist, teacher and author of "The Art Spirit," who wrote , "the artist is the person who leaves the crowd and goes pioneering."
I give my imagination and creativity the freedom to go beyond what I see, and paint my impressions. I hope that my work lifts the spirit of my viewers.
